5 Simple Steps to Clean a Wardrobe

Hello beautiful friends!

It’s a good time to clear your closet with the onset of summer, remove the bulky winter stuff out of the way and do a complete wardrobe cleanse. This means getting each and every thing out of the closet and analyzing each piece. We all have a lot of unused stuff that’s simply just cluttering our closets. It can be a tiring & time consuming process but I assure you the rewards make it worth it. Most of us,  can relate to “A closet full of clothes and yet nothing to wear” and this is the prime reason to do a wardrobe detox. An organized closet makes you feel great while saving time, energy and effort each time you get dressed.

Voila, now you know what’s missing in your closet and it’s time to shop. I am sharing with you some tips and tricks to make the process easier and fun.

1. Get Help– Get a family or friend to assist you. Second opinion is always helpful especially when you are confused.

2. Keep it Seasonal– Keep your closet seasonal i.e separate for Winter and Summer months which means you should ideally do this twice a year.

3. Divide and Rule– Compartmentalize your closet into Indian & Western wear. Further divide the formals and casuals, in different piles, sections or wardrobes depending on your closet space.

4. Make 5 Piles–

  • Donate- Things that you haven’t worn in a really long time, chances are you are not going to wear them ever.
  • Alter- Items that don’t fit you well or require any alterations, get it done and over with so you can wear that beautiful dress that finally fits you.
  • Keep- Apart from all your favorite latest trendy stuff and recent purchases you must also keep things that make you look and feel great even if they are not in trend presently. Items that are your wow colors and compliment you should most certainly be retained.
  • Keep Away- A few things need to be kept away from your current closet & vision, in a remind me later kind of space. Items that have sentimental values because they are gifts from loved ones but are outdated or not your style. Things that currently don’t fit you but you want to gain or lose weight sometime soon.
  • Throw- Things that are in extremely bad condition that can’t be repaired or donated urgently need to get out of your closet.

P.s-Don’t forget to do this for your accessories as well.

5. Go Shopping– Now that you have created space in your wardrobe by getting rid off unwanted stuff, it’s easier to understand what you really need. So go ahead and shop some more because you have earned it. 🙂

Hope this was helpful!

4 Ways to get Beautiful Hair

Hello beautiful friends!

Extended wedding season and Holi prompted me to do a beauty blog instead of fashion. Is your hair also feeling dull because of excessive curling, straightening, blow drying, coloring etc? There are a few things that I try to implement to the best of my abilities for healthy hair.

1. Regular Hair Cuts

  • Split ends can be cured by certain products in the market.
  • Not cutting the hair helps it grow quicker.

  • There is only one cure for split ends and that is to chop them off, though you can prevent them.
  • Regular trims actually promote hair growth.

  • Find a good salon possessing quality equipments.
  • Strike a comfortable relationship with your hair stylist and visit them every 2-3 months.
  • You don’t have to cut a lot of hair, even an inch is good enough.

2. Choosing a Good Shampoo and Conditioner

  • More the lather and foam of the shampoo the better it is.
  • Conventional products that are marketed from big companies are all healthy.

  • The lather is caused by harmful chemicals like Sodium Lauryl Sulfate (SLS) which causes many diseases like cancer etc.
  • Most established brands use harmful chemicals that cause diseases, are tested on animals, harmful for the enviornment and increase hair fall out.

  • Avoid the harmful Ingredients listed below:

Ammonium lauryl sulfate, Diethanolamine (DEA), Dimethicone , Formaldehyde, Lanolin, Mineral oil, Parabens (methylparaben, propylparaben, for example) Petroleum Polyethelyne glycol (also called PEG/polyethelyne, or polyoxyethelyne), Propylene glycol, Sodium chloride, Sodium laureate sulfate, Sodium lauryl sulfate (SLS), Synthetic colors (often listed as FD&C or D&C followed by a color and a number) Synthetic fragrance or parfum, Triethanolamine (TEA)

  • Use clean Products: Rahua, John masters, Intelligent Nutrients (People who have chemically treated hair also can use these products).

3. Minimize the use of heat products

We cannot really do without heat products but we certainly can give our hair a break every now and then. Since overuse of heat products dry out your hair, cause breakage and hair loss.

  • Go on a heatless programme for sometime, sport braids and buns on a bad hair day, or create heatless curls.
  • Definitely invest in good quality curlers, irons and blow driers.

4. Healthy Diet/ Lifestyle

  • Drinking at least 8-10 glasses of water per day.
  • Eating a healthy and balanced diet is the key to maintaining good, hair, skin and nails.
  • Intake of supplements like of biotin and iron can enhance healthy hair growth.
  • Sleeping 8 hours a day.

I am sharing things that worked for me and not just something I read on the internet. Hope this helps you too, but always do your own research.
